Alonso’s Collision With an Intoxicated Driver
In April 2018, Alonso was T-boned by another vehicle while driving through an intersection in Raymondville, Texas. The force of the collision caused Alonso’s vehicle to roll over completely and land upright on its tires off the roadway.
Alonso was injured and transported to a hospital in Harlingen, Texas via EMS. The at-fault driver blamed Alonso for the collision and told the responding police officer that she made a complete stop before entering the intersection. Two independent eyewitnesses, however, stated that the at-fault driver ran a red stop light and entered the intersection unsafely. After an on-scene investigation, the responding officer attributed 100% responsibility of the collision to the other driver. The other driver was also cited for driving without a driver’s license and arrested for driving while intoxicated.
As with Victor’s claim, my goal while representing Alonso was to make sure the insurance company understood both the nature of his injuries and the seriousness of the at-fault’s driver behavior. After a period of negotiation, my staff and I successfully closed his file this morning. Hopefully, Alonso can put this collision behind him and the at-fault driver will never again drive while intoxicated.
