Career Day for Harlingen Eighth Grade Students

Harlingen car crash attorney Robert Davis Jr. speaks to middle school students about the practice of law.

This morning, Jen and I escaped our office to attend career day at the Cano Freshman Academy. It was my firm’s third career day this year but our first time visiting with students from each of Harlingen’s five middle schools at once. For four hours, we spoke to approximately 1,000 8th grade GEAR UP students, some of whom showed great interest in the legal profession. I used the opportunity to discuss the various areas of law that exist, different career paths for law school graduates, and the day-to-day schedule of a personal injury lawyer.

Jen and I would like to thank Esequiel Rodriguez and Monica Garza, the GEAR UP Facilitators for Memorial Middle School and Gutierrez Middle School respectively, for the invitation. It is always nice to be around so many young students who are already thinking about and planning for life after the Harlingen school district. I hope all of them work hard to achieve their goals, and I wish all of them the best of luck during this school year and beyond.
